Abstract:

In both the world of science and the world of business there is an enormous interest in online auctions. Advanced information and communication technologies provide opportunities: (i) for connecting buyers and sellers online at a worldwide scale; (ii) for presenting and discussing products and services in a digital way; and (iii) for developing innovative new ways of auctioning. This monograph will summarize and synthesize the growing body of knowledge about modeling and designing online auctions. Key issues with regard to modeling and designing online auctions will be discussed, and several innovative online auction applications will be presented.
